Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He defended 4 initial chances in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
