Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows the young girl β€” who inherited the toy collection when he grew up β€” receiving a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is why Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
